Weekly Review

I hope everyone had a great week last week, and a Merry Christmas if you celebrate!  I ended up having the whole week off from work, which was a nice way to relax at the end of the year.  And we ended up having pretty smooth flights to Atlanta with no delays so that was a nice benefit as well.  All that time off work meant that I got in all my work outs too :)  Here are the details.

Monday - Spin class at Zengo.  This was the last of the discounted classes I had so I'm not sure how much I'll continue these classes.  I really like the classes at Zengo but they're expensive at full price. I might give the spin classes at the gym another try to see if I like them better with a different teacher.

Tuesday - 3 mile run at home before packing up and leaving for the airport to fly to Atlanta.

Wednesday - Rest day and Christmas with family.

Thursday - Rest day, plus celebrating my niece's birthday.

Birthday celebrations included riding the train around the mall

Friday - 3.5 mile run around my motherin-law's neighborhood.  We enjoyed checking out the holiday decorations, even though it seemed a bit weird given the temperatures were in the 60s.

Saturday - Rest day and my niece's birthday party.

Sunday - We had an early flight back home to Maryland.  We did make it to the gym in the afternoon and spent 30 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes with weights.

So that was my week!  This week includes another day off for New Year's Day so that should help with the work outs too.  Here's the plan for this week.

Monday - Strength training
Tuesday - 3 mile run
Wednesday - 3 mile run
Thursday - Rest Day
Friday - Strength training
Saturday - Yoga
Sunday - 5 mile run

Weekly Review

I can't believe it's already the week of Christmas!  This year has really flown by and this month has seemed even faster.  Last week went pretty well as far as work outs go.  I got in 2 cardio sessions and 2 strength training sessions.  Here are the details.

Monday - Rest day

Tuesday - 30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym.  Plus, we found out that the branch of the gym we go to is closing :(  There are other branches in town we can go to but this one was the most convenient.

Wednesday - Strength training at home (Squats, calf raises, glute bridges, clam shells, planks, push ups, bicep curls, tricep curls, shoulder presses)

Thursday - Rest day and going to see the new Star Wars movie!  I even wore my Ahsoka Tano inspired dress and ring to work.

Friday - Rest day

Saturday - Yoga with Adrienne.

We also put together a pretty involved cat tree in the evening, but it was worth it since Perry already loves it :)

Sunday - 4 mile run, 2 miles with Mike and then 2 miles by myself.  We also got together with a friend later in the day to hang out and see another movie, Knives Out.  It was really good.

So that was the week.  We're traveling for the holidays this week so that might make things a bit more complicated but it should be fine.  It helps that I ended up getting the whole week off of work.

Here's the plan for this week.

Monday - Spin class at Zengo (the last of the cheap classes I bought)
Tuesday - 3 mile run plus traveling
Wednesday - Rest day
Thursday - 4 mile run
Friday - Strength training
Saturday - Yoga
Sunday - 3 mile run and traveling back home

Weekly Review

I hope everyone had a good week last week!  Our week did end up being quite rainy and I only got one outside run.  But I was also exhausted for a lot of last week, and I'm not sure why.  There were several times when I took a nap after getting home from work and before dinner.  Hopefully I have more energy this week.  Here are the details.

Monday - Rest day

Tuesday - 30 minute run

Wednesday - Strength training in the evening.  We also had our holiday celebration at work and we went out for lunch and to see a fun ice sculpture display.  It was How the Grinch Stole Christmas themed and we had a great time.

This is all made of ice!

Thursday - Rest day.  This was one of those days when I took a nap after work.

Friday - Barre video.  I had initially thought of going for a run but it rained all day.

Saturday - Spin class at Zengo.  I also went out with some friends in the evening for sushi and karaoke.  It was a fun night but way later than I'm used to and more alcohol than I'm used to. I didn't end up going to sleep until 2am.

Bonus photo of my friend's dog being melodramatic b/c no one was petting her :)

Sunday - Rest day.  Given how Saturday night went, I ended up taking another rest day.  I was also sore from the spin class the day before.  I did do a lot of hydrating, stretching and foam rolling and felt better by the end of the day.

Here's the plan for this week.

Monday - 30 minute run
Tuesday -Strength training
Wednesday - 45 minute run
Thursday - Rest day and seeing Star Wars!
Friday - 3 mile run
Saturday - Yoga/strength training
Sunday - 4 mile run

Weekly Review

I hope everyone had a good week!  Mine went pretty well and I got most of my planned workouts in.  I got 3 runs, one elliptical session, and 2 strength training sessions.  Plus some fun time with friends!  I didn't get in any yoga but I did do a lot of stretching after my runs and kept up with my PT exercises.  Here are the details for the week.

Monday - Rest day

Tuesday - 30 minute run.  Also, Mike is training for his first 10k (the Star Wars 10k at Disney World in April) and this was his first training run.  We're working on base building for December and January and actual 10k training will start in February.

Wednesday - Rest day

Thursday - 30 minutes on the elliptical plus weights at the gym

Friday -  3 mile run

Saturday - Strength training at home.  Plus we went out to a local show in the evening and met up with some friends there.

Sunday - 3 mile run.  I did 1.5 miles at an easy pace with Mike and then did another 1.5 miles on my own with speed work thrown in.  This is the first time I've done any speed work since September.  I did feel it in the soles of my feet afterward but my feet felt ok after some icing and using the foot massager later that night.

I also got together with a friend for a breakfast and Costco date Sunday morning.  Errands are so much more fun when you do them with a friend :)

Unfortunately, it looks like we have a lot of rain in the forecast this week.  But here's the plan.

Monday - Rest day
Tuesday - 30 minute run (probably at the gym because of rain) + weights
Wednesday - Rest day
Thursday - Strength training
Friday - 3 mile run
Saturday - Yoga
Sunday - 4 mile run

Weekly Review

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We spent most of last week in Ohio with family and I'm grateful that we were able to have that time together.  Of course, the travel put some kinks in my workout plans but I'm ok with that trade off at this time of year.  Here are the details.

Monday - barre video on You Tube

Tuesday - 30 minute run

Wednesday - Rest day and travel to Ohio.  Our flight ended up being a couple hours delayed so we made the most of our time at the airport.

In addition to a couple glasses of wine, I watched Brittany Runs a Marathon since it's available on Amazon Prime now.  I ended up really enjoying it.  I was concerned about the fat shaming at the beginning and what seemed to be a message related to how she would be happy if she just lost weight.  But the movie seemed to correct that message in the end and suggest it was much more about taking control of her life and not about losing weight.

Thursday - Rest day and Thanksgiving number one!  There were 6 of us and we knew we had another day of feasting on Friday so we wanted something that wasn't too heavy.  We had a rainbow carrot farinata and a tarte tatin that Mike made.

Friday - 3 mile run.

Plus this was Thanksgiving number 2 with a total of 8 people.  We decided to make things wasy for ourselves and just ordered food from Whole Foods.  They had a whole vegan menu for Thanksgiving.  We ordered 6 servings, figuring that 8 servings would be too much food.  But even then, we had a lot of left overs.  If we do this again I think we could even do 4 servings for 8 people.  The food was all delicious!  The entree was a mushroom etoufee, the sides were cornbread dressing, collard greens and black eyed pea fritters.  The dessert was vegan pumpkin pie.

Saturday - Rest day

Sunday - Rest day and flying back home.  We had an early flight and everything was on time.  I had meant to get in a run in the afternoon but it pretty much rained all day and I was tired after the travel.  So this was a much needed extra rest day.  It also included a lot of kitty cuddles and a friend who came over to visit later in the afternoon.

Back to the normal routine this week.  Here's the plan.

Monday - Rest day
Tuesday -30 minute run
Wednesday - Strength training at the gym
Thursday - 45 minute run
Friday - Barre video
Saturday - Yoga
Sunday -45 minute run

Weekly Review

I hope everyone has had a great couple weeks!  I missed last week's wrap up but I hadn't had any work outs that week anyway.  I'm happy to say I got more working out in this week and, fingers crossed, my foot seems to be holding up ok.  Maybe that pesky tendinitis is finally gone.

Monday - 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes in the weight room at the gym

Tuesday - Rest day

Wednesday - I was still sore from the weights Monday so I made this a yoga day

Thursday - rest day
Friday - 30 minute run in the morning.

We also had a little staycation in the city and got a hotel room for the evening.  We were able to go out to dinner, see a show, and have drinks with a friend afterward!  All of this without worrying about getting back to Maryland afterward.
Saturday - We had a leisurely morning and slept in.  Then I took advantage of the hotel gym, which had a peleton bike and did a 30 minute class.

We also had a nice brunch in town before heading back home.

Sunday - Yoga and strength training at home in the evening.

We also spent some time on errands, getting ready to travel this week for Thanksgiving, and playing with kitties since they missed us while we were gone for one day :)

So I'm hopeful this week will go well with the working out too.  I think I'm going to keep trying to have a lot of variety in my workouts instead of just spending most of my time running and hopefully that will help as well.  I definitely want to keep some yoga in my routine.  Here's a tentative plan for the week.

Monday - Barre video
Tuesday -30 minute run
Wednesday - Rest day and flying to Ohio
Thursday - 45 minute run
Friday - Yoga
Saturday - 45 minute run
Sunday - Yoga + strength training

Weekly Review

Whew, it's been a busy couple weeks.  I missed posting entirely last week so I'm happy to be back with a quick review.  The reason that it was so busy was that I had a conference last week (at least it was local so no traveling out of town needed) and the week before that I had a couple work events as well.

But I haven't been working out.  One of the events I had a couple weeks ago was a co-workers anniversary celebration at the zoo.  It involved a couple hours of walking (slow walking) but unfortunately, that caused my foot pain to flare up again.  So I figured it needed a couple more weeks of rest to try to get it to go away for good.  Of course, rest is relative since there was just lots of walking involved at my conference, getting from the metro to various destinations, etc.  But I'm hopeful this period of rest will do the trick and I can get back to working out this week.

Here are some photos of what I've been doing in the past couple weeks :)

Lots of work stuff.  Here are some photos from a co-workers anniversary celebration at the zoo

Halloween ended up rainy but we still had a good number of kids come by

I've been able to spend a lot of time catching up with friends.  And even getting some cuddle time in with their pups :)

I got back to working out yesterday.  I thought I'd start with something other than running so went back to Zengo for a class.  I think it's been 2 years since I was there but I really enjoyed the class.

So that's it for the past couple weeks.  I hope that my foot holds up with adding in working out this week.  But I'm planning to keep any runs short - just 30 to 45 minutes.  Here's the tentative plan.

Monday - 30 minute run
Tuesday - yoga (we might get snow!)
Wednesday - Strength training
Thursday - rest day
Friday - 30 minute run
Saturday - Strength training
Sunday - 45 minute run

Weekly Review

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Ours ended up pretty busy but fun overall.  And the week went well from a work out perspective too.  I had to shift things around and change up some things but I ended up getting all my planned workouts in by combining some things.  Here are the details.

Monday - Rest day.  We had a dinner meeting thing from work.  It was 70s themed so here's my attempt at dressing for the theme :)

Tuesday - Rest day

Wednesday - 40 minute run

Thursday - Barre Video

Friday - 3 mile run

We also went out to an interactive art exhibit in the evening.  It was called 29 rooms and it had a bunch of different exhibits.  Some were basically just photo ops for instagram but some were really interactive.  There was one where you were encouraged to create your own art piece in various ways.  For example, you had to draw a portrait of the person sitting across from you but couldn't look down at your paper.  Or you had to make an image of a still life using only colored tape.  There was a separate room where the artist had started a collage and you were encouraged to cut out pieces of patterned paper and add to the collage yourself.  Overall, we both really enjoyed the exhibit.

This was an exhibit with dreamscapes

Our still lifes in tape

Saturday - Rest day.  We had errands in the morning and went to Costco to pick up our new glasses.  We also went to a Halloween party in the evening.  I did an Ursula (from the Little Mermaid) cosplay but forgot to take a photo.

New glasses

Sunday - Combined a couple things today.  I did a yoga for strength workout in the morning.  And then we went out to brunch with friends.  We hadn't seen the friends in a while so this ended up being a late brunch (with lots of food and drink) so I was dragging a bit in the afternoon.  I did end up getting out before the sun set but decided to just do a walk instead of a run.  For some reason, my heart rate was really high for just walking so I'm glad I made that decision.

So that was it for the week.  I got in 2 strength training sessions, 2 runs, a long walk, and some yoga.  Overall, I'm pretty happy with that. I had a bit of swelling in my foot this morning but hopefully a couple rest days will help take care of that.  Here's the plan for this week.

Monday - Rest day
Tuesday - Strength training at home
Wednesday - 45 minute run
Thursday - Strength training
Friday - 45 minute run
Saturday - Yoga
Sunday - 60 minute run
